Duhok is one of the four town in Southern Kurdistan ( Kurdistan-Iraq) it presume the most important city because of its strategically site. Duhok considered as a Kurdistan gate because its bounds on Turkey. The most humanitarian relief's are passing to Kurdistan through Duhok. Dohuk is an ancient city, its name had cited in the Assyrian document by the name Malyyata which means the gate in English language. Foundation of Duhok return to the first thousand B.C. The total population of Duhok is estimated 840,000 persons 237000 of them live in the city centre. the number of residential house in the city is 12274 houses according to the 1987 census, currently it estimated 13500 houses. |
